Rotation TwoOn my second Co-op rotation I returned to American SHOWA Inc. in Sunbury, Ohio as an Engineering Co-op. During this rotation I was able to gain more experience running strength and durability tests while also being responsible for another design project. My design project for this semester involved designing safety guarding for all of the power steering test equipment. One important technical skill I learned was the requirement for equipment and the testing area to be safe for those running the tests. I now know how to ensure the testing environment is safe and understand the safety guidelines and why they are used. An important non-technical skill that I learned this semester was how to handle a situation in which I had made a mistake. I learned this from ordering one of the wrong parts needed to assemble the safety guarding. This situation taught me that it is alright to make mistakes and often easy to fix them as long as you accept responsibility and work towards finding a solution. In the case of ordering the wrong parts, we were able to return the incorrect parts and replace them with the correct ones.
